Second Life can be wonderful. It is a virtual world filled with talented, creative people. The potential is barely limited by our imaginations and technology. It’s a place where users can temporarily escape their real-life problems. Because it is virtual, there are very few consequences for your actions. You can go crazy and do things you’d never dream of doing in the real world. However, Second Life is not consequence free. Certain behaviors are unacceptable even in a virtual world.

Second Life Bimbology

A while back, I discovered another Second Life bimbo blog. SL Bimbology is very different from Bimbo Luxe. The author, Candy, leans into the dumb slut roleplay element. It’s served her well. Candy’s blog is doing numbers that make me jealous! So much so that she set up a new self-hosted site. For those of you who don’t blog, that’s a big deal.

I haven’t talked to Candy. We haven’t met in world. I have been reading her posts from time to time. The success of Bimbology inspired an upgrade to Bimbo Luxe. I even visited her sim to check it out. Candy was living the bimbo dream. Hats off to her. So, I was very upset when I checked on her blog last night and discovered Bimbology was temporarily shut down.

Candy should have been celebrating her success. And for a time, she was. She says a couple of people started harassing her in-world. According to Candy, these people were “saying stuff that wasn’t part of roleplay and just cruel and just to hurt.”

From what I know of Candy from reading her posts and visiting her sim, she was not easily offended. It’s hard to imagine what these people could have said that would have been out of bounds. Sadly, I think I can imagine what these comments might have been. It’s just not acceptable behavior.

Worst of all, it was persistent. Candy blocked the bad actors. But they came back using alts again and again. To what end?? I understand trolls are gonna troll. But why? What would push people to such ugly extremes? I remind myself that hurt people hurt people and all that. These are probably guys who have been rejected by women in real life. They are taking out their frustrations on Candy under the shield of anonymity. And it makes me ill.

I actually lost sleep over this. I tossed and turned. At 4 am I finally woke up thinking of a proper response to all of this. I was surprised how this was weighing on me. I don’t usually have trouble sleeping. But here I was up in the middle of the night.

This morning, I told Darden about what was bothering me. She asked if Candy’s sim was shut down as well. I ported over to Bimbology to check. Sure enough, she had closed her sim too. I wonder if the people who did this would be happy to know how badly they hurt her. It’s shameful and I hurt on her behalf.

Consequences

I imagine the people who harassed Candy thought they were being funny. It’s too easy to forget that the people we interact with in Second Life are real. The avatars are made of pixels. We are all playing make-believe. But there is a real person on the other end of your keyboard.

I don’t want to lecture my readers. Because I’m sure you’re all good people. Bimbo Luxe is about acceptance and positivity. You guys know better than to harass someone. I’ve met so many of you already. It’s been a real pleasure. This morning, a reader reached out to thank me. They appreciated my write-up on Bimbo Dreams. We talked about the issues our community faces as sims like Bimbology and Bimbo Playhouse disappear from the grid.

Second Life’s future is uncertain. It’s remarkable it has lasted as long as it has. People have been predicting the end of Second Life for as long as I’ve been here. I hope it lasts a while longer. Who knows? I’m certain of one thing. As long as the servers are on, there will be bimbos in Second Life.

Girls (and guys) we have to stand together. These trolls probably aren’t thinking about the real-life consequences of their actions. I’m not excusing their behavior. It’s inexcusable. I have to hope that the harm is unintentional. Because the alternative is too disturbing. Regardless, we need to support each other. Do what we can to keep Second Life safe. And when someone like Candy gets bullied, let her know she’s not alone. These assholes are in the minority.

A common theme here at Bimbo Luxe has been loneliness. A lot of the guys I talk to in Second Life are clearly dealing with issues in real life. I don’t know if there is some kind of gender difference at play here. Women I know leave their real life worries behind. But many guys seem to carry the hurt inside them. This affects them so deeply that they struggle to understand the difference between Second Life and reality.

That’s a topic I’m going to delve into in depth in a future post. I’m worried about some of you guys! No one I know is out there actively harassing anyone. I’ve got some advice that I think can help some of y’all live more fulfilling Second Lives. For now, I just want to remind everyone to be mindful. Try to put yourselves in the shoes of the person you’re interacting with. Empathy is key.

Bimbo Power

This has not been a fun post for me. But I felt like I needed to get this off my saline-filled chest. Bimbos are a force of positivity. We may be silly. Some of us act dumb. But don’t be fooled. We are one big sexy community. When we put our dim minds and bouncy boobs together, there is nothing we can’t do.

That’s what Bimbo Luxe is all about. I’m out here on a mission. To find more bimbos and bring us all together. To share common experiences and styling tips. Finding all the hot deals and hotter parties. Accepting all varieties of bimbos – of which there are many. The Luxe life is filled with beauty and pleasure. Our futures is bright. Don’t let the assholes get you down.

I hope Candy and Bimbology come back soon. Bimbology has already been a great success. Here’s to its sexy future!

I think you are being too kind. The people who harassed your friend Candy did not think they were being funny. They intended exactly what they got—to run her off from Second Life. Maybe they had a motive; maybe it was just to be cruel. That’s enough for some people.

    They are scum.

You’re probably right. I find myself giving people the benefit of the doubt unless faced with proof to the contrary. Whatever the case, I condemn their actions.
