I wrote a different article that I planned to post today. It would have introduced a new direction for my Second Life. I held off publishing the article because I had a sense these plans might not work out. Do they ever? As expected, my best laid plans went awry.
Let me tell you what went wrong.
Not-So-BIG Daddy
I have been blogging for a few years now. Over that time, I’ve built a decent following on Flickr. Sometimes I receive instant messages from people who want to “collaborate”. Usually this means they want to meet up in world. You can probably figure out their true intentions from there.
Several months ago, I got a message from “Suzie”. She said her husband “Cal” liked my pictures and wanted to hire me as a model. I was immediately suspicious. Women don’t tend to introduce me to their husbands. If anything, they try to keep their men away from me.
Right from the beginning, I suspected that “Suzie” was actually Cal hiding behind an alt account to put me at ease. Cal wasn’t a creepy guy trying to snake me in world. He was a busy photographer whose wife coordinated his models for him. It was a business! Sure it was.
I get a lot of requests to meet up in world. Most of them just disappear when the hook up doesn’t happen. Cal kept messaging me. But he never tried to arrange a meet-up. Instead he kept telling me how busy he was and that he couldn’t wait to photograph me.
I found out later that this was because Cal’s computer was broken. He could log into his Second Life account. But he couldn’t actually get “in-world”. The messages continued to get more and more personal. Eventually, he told me he wanted to leave Suzie and partner me.
Love Is Blind
At the time, I was still working at X-Sisters. That prevented me from partnering Darden because I was an employee and she was a customer. I didn’t have any interest in partnering with Cal. We hadn’t even met. But out of the blue he sent me a lot of money and a proposal. What’s a bimbo supposed to do?
Cal told me that Suzie was on an allowance of 100k Lindens a month. I didn’t believe that for a second. I was pretty sure Suzie didn’t even exist. But I was an escort. Becoming a trophy wife was a promotion in my eyes. I didn’t really expect any of this to work out, but I accepted the money and the proposal just to see what happened.
As soon as it was official, “Suzie” sent me a nasty message through Flickr. It was the kind of thing a misogynist imagines a jilted woman sending. Meanwhile, Cal sent me a message saying he sure hopes Suzie isn’t jealous! After a few suspicious messages, there was no doubt in my mind that Suzie was Cal.
Eventually, I responded that I wasn’t stupid. I knew Suzie didn’t really exist. Sure enough, Suzie stopped messaging me. Instead, I received a message from a new girl who said she was a model for Cal. He’s a great guy. Blah, blah, blah. This was getting old real fast.
After 48 hours of Second Life partnership, Cal told me about his busted laptop. I dissolved the partnership and told him to let me know when he was able to meet up with me in world. We could start over then.
Gimme Some Sugar
Within a week or so, Cal replaced his computer. I accepted his friend request and we made plans to meet. He was building a house “for us” and sent me pictures of where we would live. It wasn’t a priority for me. I was happily dating Darden and planned to partner her whenever I left X-Sisters for good.
Between blogging and working at the bar, I didn’t have a lot of time for anything else. So Cal decided to drop by X-Sisters while I was working. As it turns out, one of my co-workers recognized him. Ten years ago, she partnered Cal. She told me that Cal was a serial cheater. He had a fetish for partnering girls and then immediately cheating on them.
I really could not have cared less if Cal was faithful to me or not. I saw him as a sugar daddy. This is basically an informal form of escorting. A daddy takes care of my needs (money for shopping) and I take care of his (up to him). I don’t really care what my daddies do as long as I get paid.
Then, I got fired from X-Sisters. This was the second time in less than a year that the owner had fired me. I won’t rehash all of that except to say I knew there was no way I would ever work for my former employer again. With that obstacle out of the way, Darden and I finally partnered up.
We weren’t going to be monogamous. We never had been. Neither of us saw the need for it in Second Life. I was retiring from sex work, but I still had some daddies. Now that I didn’t have to spend six hours a week in an empty bar, I had more time to spend exploring other opportunities.
Cal proved to be pretty generous at first. I could count on regular payments of a few thousand Lindens to go visit him. He would make demands. He wanted me to voice chat. Wanted me to post pictures of us on Flickr. And of course he wanted me to break things off with Darden.
I explained that I wouldn’t do voice or cams. That is and always will be a deal breaker for me. And there was no way I would dissolve my partnership with Darden. We had waited too long to be together. I wasn’t throwing that away for an unstable sugar daddy.
Cal was relentlessly trying to get his way. He wanted us to be exclusive. I’m pretty sure he wanted that so he could cheat on me just like he had all of his other wives. But I wasn’t playing that game. When he paid me, he could have fun. And that was all there was to it.
And then, I got pregnant…
