We’re entering holiday sales season in Second Life. Nhumana is leading the charge with a 50% discount. There’s a little more going on here than meets the eyes. Let’s look at the value proposition of Nhuma before the sale ends!

Half Off from Nhumana

I have been a supporter of the Nhuma body since just before its launch. Updates on the body and various add-ons have been a regular feature here at Bimbo Luxe. The other day, Nhumana announced its Black Friday Sale. But there was more to this announcement than just a 50% discount. This sale represents the end of the launch era for Nhumana and the start of a new status quo.

The headline here is 50% off the Nhumana Core and the Full Body until December 2. For those who are unfamiliar with Nhuma, there’s unique marketing for this body. Before you can purchase anything, you need to buy the Core. Typically the Core costs L$200, but it’s half off during the sale. The Core is just a bracelet but it’s required to unlock further purchases.

In many ways, the Core is like a group that does not take up one of your group slots. Nhumana has links to the Sibilla family of brands. The Core is similar to the Black Card from Charm. Most bimbos will know about this. For everyone else, the Black Card is a purchase that qualifies you to buy bags from Charm. It’s an entry fee.

Charm is an extreme case. I forget the price of the Black Card, but it’s eye popping. The point of Charm is exclusivity. It’s built into the brand. Everything is overpriced. That’s the point. Charm sells unique bags which are showpieces within the bimbo community. Owning one means you don’t care about spending money wisely. You’re a rich bitch and you want everyone to know it.

Nhumana isn’t playing the exclusivity game yet. I’m not sure that model works for mesh bodies. From the beginning, the existence of the Core made me a little nervous about Nhumana. It felt like an unnecessary barrier. However, buying the Core granted access to a “free” Lite version of the body. That was, to me, the greatest selling point of Nhuma.

The End of the Launch Era

You may have noticed my use of past tense there. It was the greatest selling point of Nhuma. It’s not anymore. With the sale, Nhumana also announced the discontinuation of the Lite Body. If you wanted to try it out, you waited too long. It’s gone. The only option left is the Full Version.

When asked about the discontinuation on Discord, Mimi Macabre offered the following explanation:

Nhuma Light was created as a means to allow people to “test drive” the brand new Nhuma body at launch. As we grow and enter a new phase, we are moving on from the Light version and focusing all our efforts to make Nhuma even better!

So if you know anyone who was on the fence about upgrading…

this is the time to do it!

That’s reasonable but I can’t help being a little disappointed. Not for me. I picked up my Full Nhuma body when it launched. But I’ve talked to a lot of people who have been on the fence about adopting Nhuma. I understand their reluctance to invest L$5,000 in a new body. The Lite version was a great way to “test drive” it. I hate to see it go. It would have been nice if Nhumana had announced the discontinuation before the sale. This would have given people one last chance to get the “free” version before it was removed.

Having said that, Nhuma launched in June. Five months is a reasonable amount of time to offer a mostly free test drive. I just wish it had been clear from the beginning that this was a limited time offer. My disappointment is offset by the 50% off discount. I think for most people who would be interested in Nhuma, L$2,500 is a reasonable price. But for some, that’s still gonna be steep.

This is a value proposition and it’s going to be different for everyone. If you have a body you’re happy with, you probably don’t need another one. Personally, I have all the mainstream bodies, add-ons and some of the lesser knowns. As a fashion blogger, I like to have options. And money really isn’t an issue for me. One of my daddies bought the Nhuma body for me on release. But most people aren’t in the same position.

Nhumana Yo Momma

All in all, I think Nhuma is an excellent body with some unique features. The connection to Sibilla makes it of interest to the bimbo community. Vipra feet are included. The Momma add-on is available for those super busty looks. If you’re looking for a replacement for your old Kupra body, Nhuma is an obvious choice.

Where I think Nhuma arguably comes up short is designer support. For a newer body, there’s an impressive amount of support for Nhuma. But it’s still limited. You can achieve great bimbo looks with eBody Reborn or Legacy and have a lot more clothes to choose from. Once the sale is up, Nhuma is going to cost as much as these premium mesh bodies. And I don’t think it offers the same value if designer support is important to you.

Nhumana has been touting its many add-ons. Most of them have been free inclusions like Dreamgirl and Lively. The most recent add-on, Momma, is a separate purchase. Unlike the other add-ons, Momma is a Sibilla product. As such, it is not included in Nhumana’s Black Friday sale.

The regular price is L$899. Sibilla has done some give-aways and Mimi has confirmed that more will be forthcoming. It’s entirely possible that Sibilla will announce their own Black Friday sale. If you’re interested in buying Momma, I would recommend holding off at least a little longer.

Having said that, I’m disappointed in the level of support for Momma. Very few clothing options exist for it outside of Sibilla. Some have speculated that Momma is harder to design for than the other add-ons. Whatever the reason, Momma remains largely unsupported outside of Sibilla. If you don’t shop there, it’s arguably not worth buying this particular add-on.

Sibilla has also rolled out the Wrong Size line of products. Wrong Size is similar to Momma in that it offers insanely large busts. These products include their own add-ons and do not interact with Momma. The look is different. It’s kind of Momma Squish. But I find it dilutes the value of the Momma add-on to have a similar product available.

The advantage of Momma over Wrong Size is that your boobs don’t change when you take off your top. As with other squishie add-ons, the Wrong Size boobs won’t look right nude. They will be squished for no reason. So there’s a trade-off.

Is Nhuma Worth It?

I have been very happy with my Nhuma body. Up until now, I have recommended the light version without reservation. Now that it’s gone, I am hesitant to recommend the full version of the body. For the level of support, I’d look at eBody or Legacy first. During this sale, I’d say Nhuma is very much worth the price as long as you understand what you’re buying.

For most people, Nhuma is not going to be their primary body. If you have the Lindens and you want to supplement your wardrobe, Nhuma is a good choice. I don’t know that the level of support will ever justify the premium cost. That was the brilliance of the free version. It created a demand that stores could not ignore. Without the free version, adoption of Nhuma is likely to stabilize.

The obvious comparison to me is Kupra. At launch, Kupra broke ground with its ultra curvy look. It was always going to be niche. But there wasn’t a better option for those who wanted that thicc look. Others followed chipping away at Kupra’s base. Legacy and eBody were much more flexible. They caught on with a broader demographic and pushed Kupra to the side.

Nhuma is much more flexible than Kupra ever was. But Legacy and Reborn already have the majority of the market. Even Maitreya’s Lara X currently gets more support. Nhumana is competing with the Peaches and the Primas. I can’t imagine it will ever take over eBody or Legacy unless those brands collapse.

If you’ve been waiting for a chance to pick up Nhuma at a discount, now is your chance. Get to the Nhumana store before the sale ends on December 2. If you’re looking for a primary body, take a look around at the clothing options before you buy in. Make sure your favorite designers support Nhuma. As with any big purchase, demo demo demo!

    Thus I will summarize. I used the BonnieBot surveys of attachments ( https://www.bonniebots.com/attachments ) to see what female mesh bodies are the most popular in SL. I know there are potential issues with that survey, but it is the best data available outside of LL.

    They need to make their 50% price cut permanent. A 2750L$ price point worked for Maitreya.

      The decision to eliminate the free/lite tier this early surprised me. I always figured it would go away eventually. The point of it, I thought, was to get enough people using the body that they would ask their favorite designers to support it. There is growing support for the base body, but it still has a long way to go!

      I am curious about the chart. I used to blog for Prima which is also a good body. They almost always have some kind of 50% offer or BOGO. They aren’t on the chart at all!

      Your point is undeniable. With price being roughly equal, eBody and Legacy offer a lot more clothing options than nHuma. It’s unlikely they will ever close that gap or even come close to it.

      I think the marketing strategy here is similar to Sibilla/Charm. Create a niche dedicated customer base that will happily pay inflated prices. If so, that’s a missed opportunity.

        I searched for Prima specifically. I didn’t find anyone recorded as using that body (along with Kupra Kups, Ocacin, Signature Alice, Tonic, GenX, GenX Curvy, Slink, and TMP).

        However, there are possible issues with the BonnieBot attachments survey I used as the source for these numbers.

        • Counts of some older bodies could exaggerated by bots stacked in skyboxes to generate the illusion of traffic.
        • It is possible that the brand name of a body is for some reason not in the attachment name.
        • Many casual users (and long-time residents) are just not as much into SL fashion.
        • Some sims outright ban Bonnie Bots.
        • BonnieBots can’t get into full sims, and can’t survey them as regularly.
        • People using system bodies are obviously not counted, as those are not attachments.

        But I thought it was weird that there were zero Prima bodies found, too.

        The data you posted matches my anecdotal experience. I tend to approach the topic from the opposite end. How any stores do I see supporting a body? Right now, I feel like eBody has the most support. I have seen some store designing for eBody exclusively. Legacy and Lara also get a lot of support. Lara has a bit of a split with Lara X. Kupra has fallen off, but still has some support even though it’s basically a zombie body. Inithium is essentially done as I understand it with key members of the team having moved on to Nhumana. Everything outside of the top 3 is a niche product. That doesn’t mean they are bad. But they aren’t going to be good options for someone who just wants 1 main with lots of clothing options.
